The Quest Hotel is located at the Chinatown area of Semarang and situated close to the Simpang Lima District. It is also just a 15 minute drive from the airport and 7 minutes if you're coming from the train station. There's one particular restaurant nearby that is always crowded--the Soto Bokoran--which according to the locals serves the best Soto in Semarang.

Although Quest Hotel is near the city center, there isn't much too see within walking distance. You'd still have to ride a cab too see Semarang's attractions.

The staff at the hotel are one of the nicest I've met. First of all, they responded quickly to my e-mails. Second, I requested for the free pick-up at the airport and they obliged. Third, they allowed me to check-in as early as 8:00 am and even gave me free iced tea while they were preparing the room.

I am not sure if they are as accommodating to all the guests or if I just caught them on a very good mood but they were consistently nice during my stay. I have no complaints.
Quest Hotel Semarang Deluxe Room
Deluxe Room
I booked the Deluxe room with balcony and free buffet breakfast. The room is ideally sized and spacious, however, the glass partition on the bathroom wall looked a little tacky.

I also don't get the horizontal mirror on the wall. I noticed that it gives the room an illusion of being wider, but it was rather useless especially since the only other mirror was inside the bathroom.

The amenities and facilities they provided was the real value for money. The hotel facilities include: a swimming pool, restaurant, lobby bar, meeting rooms and conference halls. They also offer car rentals, tours and free airport pick-up.

Every room is equipped with air-condition, free wifi, LCD TV, work table, coffee and tea with thermos, idd phone, mini refrigerator and safe deposit box. For 40 usd a night, that's more than decent.
The bathroom is western style with separate toilet and shower (hot and cold). The toilet has bidet which is always a plus, and the free toiletries and water bottles are replenished daily.

Again, the glass wall in the shower is rather odd. Because, unless you are staying with your significant other, you must shut the curtains closed to keep your privacy.
There's a buffet breakfast at the Cosmo restaurant which was quite cozy with its extended courtyard and outdoor tables. They served a a combination of Asian and western dishes such as soup and fried rice as well as sausage, bread and jam.

I also ordered twice via room service. First was the hamburger with fries and strawberry cheesecake. It was so delicious and beautifully plated that on my last night I ordered Lamb satay instead of eating out.
Overall, the Quest Hotel is a modern and affordable accommodation that is an ideal base for exploring Semarang city. I highly recommend it and will stay here again in the future.
