Transportation Guide: Jakarta Airport to Bandung

Jakarta Airport to Bandung

Bandung is the capital city of West Java province in Indonesia. It is the third largest city in Indonesia after Jakarta and Subaraya. The city known as Paris Van Java for its resemblance to Paris and European atmosphere during the colonial times is a favorite getaway for Jakartans.

There are three ways to reach Bandung straight from the Soekarno Hatta International Airport.

1. Primajasa Bus
Operating hours: 12:30am-4:00pm every 30 minutes
Fare: IDR 75,000
Destination: Batununggal

2. Cipaganti and X-Trans Shuttle Vans

3. Argo Parahyangan Train
Note: You have ride a taxi or the Damri Bus (Gambir route) at the airport to the Gambir Train station.

From the airport to Gambir Station:
Damri Bus (Terminal 1 and 2)
Operating hours: 5:30 am to 12:00 mn every 15-30 minutes
Fare: IDR 20,000

Gambir to Bandung:
Argo Parahyangan (Executive Class)
Operating hours: 5:10 am to 8:30 pm every 1 to 2 hours
Fare: IDR 80,000
Destination: Bandung Railway Station
Argo Parahyangan

With three options to choose from, I strongly suggest that you pick the train ride from Gambir to Bandung. Although the slower option, the scenic view and comfortable ride makes the long trip well worth it. The railroad passes through the Parahyangan mountains and rice terraces, so try your darndest not to miss it.

Going back from Bandung to Gambir you may either take the Primajasa bus or Cipaganti Vans as it stops directly at the airport. The bus departs every hour and rarely gets full unlike the shuttle vans which you have to book two or more days in advance.

Goodluck and Safe Travels.

  1. actually bandung smaller than Medan (the capital of north sumatra province) and Makassar (the capital of South Sulawesi )

    1. I'm not sure. Most sites and guidebook would rank Bandung third and Medan fourth. But thanks for the new info =)
